I purchase in house roasted coffee beans here. They have several different roasts to suit your tastes , they will grind it to your specific needs. A great spot for a cup of excellent coffee. It is in the heart of downtown Sarnia. There is limited seating inside and outside.

The eclectic Blackwater Coffee cafe is a classic. Small, friendly, personal, Blackwater is more than a coffee spot, it's an oasis. Sarnia is slowly reinventing itself. I had the ice matcha and spinach & feta croissant, and they were among the best I’ve ever tasted. The flavors were spot on, and the croissant was perfectly flaky. On top of that, the customer service was brilliant, making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Loved my experience and atmosphere here!! I'm from Michigan and was camping in Sombra. With the weather being all over the place, I had to tweak my plans which led me to needing to kill some time! That led me here. The staff member (maybe owner?) was friendly and helpful with his recommendations- I ordered the cardamom latte and leek and parm croissant and it was SO delicious, buttery, savory and flaky. The garage door being opened to the outside is always nice for fresh air and a view.

Love this little coffee shop! We come here once a month to get fresh beans for our espresso machine, they are always fresh and always high quality. Everyone is always nice and very helpful!

Wow, I love this coffee shop! Very farmy, cosy, and just amazing. The staff is not just amazing, it’s the quality and taste of everything on their menu. Wow, I truly recommend this coffee shop. It’s worth every penny, and the staff are so very kind. They custom-make your order with no problem, and they bring the drinks and food right to your table. Honestly, I really recommend this coffee shop. It tastes amazing!

Backwater Coffee Co. is hands down one of the best coffee spots I’ve ever visited. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is warm, welcoming, and cozy — the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. The coffee? Next level. Every cup is rich, smooth, and brewed to perfection — you can really taste the care that goes into every roast. I tried an iced skinny vanilla oat latte and a date square - they were incredible. Their pastries and snacks are so fresh and delicious — perfect for pairing with a good book or a work session. If you’re in the area (or even if you’re not), Backwater Coffee Co. is worth the trip. It’s more than just a coffee shop — it’s a community hub, a creative space, and a caffeine lover’s dream. Can’t recommend it enough!

Overall rankings - portion 4/5, presentation 4.5/5 and taste 5/5. Such a great find in Sarnia! The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant had such a great vibe with the decor, lively atmosphere and large open door with nice cool air coming in the warm weather. In regards to the food, we got a mocha latte and a dolly bar. The mocha latte was delicious, beautifully crafted and plentiful. The dolly bar was just amazing and we could not get enough. It was so sweet, had a great texture and the different ingredients mixed in so well, especially the chocolate chips. Such a great treat and will be back to get more!
